When using a Remote Desktop in Windows, if you press Ctrl+Alt+Del while logged into the remote computer what happens is instead of sending the key combination to the remote computer, it would perform the action on your computer.
So, by default Ctrl+Alt+Del works only for the local computer. If you want to execute this command on the remote computer then you have to use a modified version of this control.
This is very easy to execute. Just follow the below steps to send Ctrl+Alt+Del to a Remote Desktop.
Step 1: Start the Remote Desktop program by clicking on “Start” then click “Run” followed by clicking “mstsc” and then click “OK”.
Step 2: Type the IP address or name of the remote computer in the “Remote Desktop” window and click “Enter”.
Step 3: Now, Type your user name and password.
Step 4: Press “Enter” to connect to the remote computer.
Step 5: After that, press the “CTRL”, “ALT” and “END” keys at the exact same time while you are viewing the Remote Desktop Window. This command executes the CTRL+ALT+DEL command on the remote computer instead of on your local computer.
Below are some of the other keyboard commands that you can use in Remote Desktop:
- Alt + Home: This command brings up the start menu on the remote computer.
- Alt + Page Up: This command switches between programs (Alt +Tab is the local command).
- Ctrl + Alt + (+) Plus / (-) Minus: In this command Minus takes a snapshot of the active windows and plus takes the snapshot of the entire remote desktop window.
- Ctrl + Alt + End: This command displays the Task Manager (Ctrl + Alt + Esc is the local command)
So, these are some of the Remote Desktop Keyboard commands that can help you manage your tasks.
